Project Brief
Privately owned medical provider of nationwide physician services for workplace screening and consumer health asked us to design and build a homegrown case management system to help aid nurses and physicians with their daily consultations. One key feature we needed was the ability to integrate with labs so that we could take in and send out lab results accordingly.
Research & Analysis
We started by speaking with physicians and nurses to understand their workflow process. On average we learned the majority of workplace consultations take less than 5 minutes. We needed to create a simple solution for users to easily scan through charts and make dispositions.
Wireframes
After speaking with key stakeholders, the team and I quickly went to the drawing board to sketch up some possible solutions. We were able to quickly get feedback and take notes accordingly along the way.
Prototype
I utilized Figma to create, test, and deliver high fidelity clickable prototypes to key stakeholders and engineers. I tested clickable prototypes with physicians, nurses, and the leadership team. Demoing our clickable prototypes was a key piece in winning the RFP bid to build and launch their first internal case management system.
Results
- Designed and launched a case management system that could successfully take in and send out lab results to the associated parties.
- Won the RFP bid to build and launch their first internal case management system.
Learnings
- Understanding user workflows is critical - the 5-minute consultation timeframe shaped our entire design approach
- Testing with actual users (physicians and nurses) early and often leads to better solutions
